Tea Party Coalition Asks Presidential Candidates to Oppose Corporate Welfare Buffalo, New York, July 20, 2011. The Tea Party Coalition of Western New York is asking all GOP presidential contenders to sign a pledge to oppose corporate welfare, the very issue which led to the rise of the tea party movement in February, 2009.
Jim Ostrowski, a member of the board of the Coalition and attorney for the plaintiffs in the Pork Lawsuit against Andrew Cuomo to end corporate subsidies in New York, said, “Corporate welfare is a great evil that is essentially the glue that holds the corrupt political regime in America together.”

Coalition Chair Allen Coniglio, said the pledge will be sent this week to all presidential candidates as well as state and local candidates in New York State. “This is THE key issue for the tea party movement and no one who supports subsidies and central planning should have any tea party support whatsoever.”
The Coalition is co-sponsoring the first annual National Rally against Corporate Welfare in Albany on October 12th just prior to oral argument of the Pork Lawsuit in the NY Court of Appeals.
The pledge reads as follows:
“I oppose all forms of corporate welfare-government subsidies to private business firms-whether direct or indirect and including but not limited to the following:
1. Cash grants
2. Loans
3. Special tax breaks or credits
4. Development zones
5. Export subsidies
6. Job training assistance to private firms
7. Use of eminent domain to aid private firms
I agree that if any existing form of corporate welfare is eliminated, any savings should be rolled back into a general tax cut to prevent the government from gaining a windfall.”

Ron Paul Initiates Liberty in Western New York

Congressman Dr. Ron Paul arrived at the Legion post in East Aurora to find the parking lot full and a police cruiser with flashing lights at the entrance directing the overflow crowd to park further down on the side of the road.
Crowd estimates from various sources are 400 to 700 in total gate attendance.
Dr. Paul stated that he was impressed with such a turnout and event with a three days notice.
Ron proceeded to the stage while an introductory video was showing with the background music of Aerosmith’s – Back in the Saddle. The stage was decorated with the Tea Party Coalition’s endorsing banner of Dr. Paul for President, two 3′ x 6′ colored copies of the Campagin for Liberty’s brochures, flags, and two hot rods adorning the sides of the stage.
Under the shady canopy of mature trees, Ron Paul gave a thirty minute Liberty speech that infected those present with the philosophy of Liberty and the plan of attack for a free mankind.
I spoke with some people afterward and they stated they did not know much about him and were glad they attended to learn more.
This was a huge success for the Paul campaign and ignited a Ron Paul spark in Western New York for the upcoming campaign season.
We hope to have Ron back in the future to further the message of Liberty and enhance his chances for becoming President of the United States.
